Thecus today announced its new zero-crash 5-bay NAS, the N5810PRO. Embedded with an Intel® Celeron™ processor J1900 Quad Core 2.0 GHz SoC and Mini-UPS battery, the Thecus N5810PRO empowers users with lightning fast performance while providing impenetrable data integrity.

“In today’s ever-evolving digital environment, businesses require robust storage solutions that provide premium performance with piece of mind that their data will always be secure,” said Florence Shih, CEO of Thecus Technology. “The N5810PRO is designed to equip users with a comprehensive set of applications that will optimize their business environment while addressing the needs for performance and security.”

Powered by the Intel Celeron processor, 4 GB DDR3 RAM (expandable to 8GB), and equipped with 5 Gigabit LAN ports, the N5810PRO reaches blazing throughput speeds of up to 500 MB/s. The N5810PRO supports seven modes of link aggregation including fault tolerance for resilience andport-trunking modes for increased performance. Built to grow with your business, total storage can be expanded to 40TB, while support for VMware®, Citrix®, and Microsoft Hyper-V® allow for seamless integration into a businesses’ virtualization environment.

“The integration of the Intel Celeron processor J1900 Quad Core 2.0 GHz SoC with the Thecus N5810PRO enables users to simultaneously utilize the many features of the NAS while maintaining a high-performance environment,” said Bev Crair, Vice President, Data Center Group and General Manager, Storage Group, Intel Corporation. “The N5810PRO is another example of successful collaborative products from Intel and Thecus.”

In order to protect your data in the occurrence of a sudden power outage, the N5810PRO is outfitted with a lithium-ion mini-UPS, allowing the system to store unwritten data to the hard disks and safely shut down. The new 5-bay NAS also supports an array of backup features including Data Guard for local and remote backups, Data Burn, and Snapshot Backup using the Btrfs file system. Users can now enjoy enhanced storage functionality while simplifying storage management.

The N5810PRO runs on the intuitive, easy-to-use Thecus OS5 operating system. The re-tooled software includes VPN Server for secure remote access and Disk Clone and Wipe for convenient data management. Users will also be able to enjoy a comprehensive set of entertainment features facilitated by HDMI output and Kodi for multimedia playback and mobile access with the powerful Thecus mobile app, T-OnTheGo.

Snapshot Backup
With BTRFS support, Thecus NAS users can enjoy the simplicity of snapshot backups. Through BTRFS subvolumes, snapshots of data at various time points can be manually or automatically made and just as easily later restored to rollback files or folders to previous states.

Mini-UPS

With the A built-in Mini-UPS, not even a power outage can slow you down. The Mini-UPS provides power to allow the N5810PRO to write unwritten data to the hard disks and safely shutdown, ensuring the integrity of your data and preserving your memories.

Disk Clone and Wipe
Disk Clone allows users to copy the entire contents of a disk to one or many other disks while Disk Wipe allows for permanent volume data destruction.

VPN Server

A VPN Server allows users to remotely access a secure network.  with VPNs, businesses will be able to utilize a cost-effective, scalable and secured network infrastructure for its client base.

Data Guard

Data Guard backup solution is the ultimate software as it provides both local and remote parts. Currently, data is backed up across RAID volumes, external USB drives, and eSATA. In addition, Data Guard uses innovative technology to sync data across the network to other NAS and servers. More importantly, Thecus® Data Guard is the total backup solution which makes managing NAS user-friendly and convenient.

NAS data can now be burned directly to CD, DVD, and Blu-ray discs with Data Burn, this hassle-free module makes burning data to a disk effortless. In addition, burning ISO image file is also supported. Whether you’re managing audio, media or essential files; Data Burn copies information fast while significantly reducing waiting time. The process of burning file to disk is now easy and smooth with Data Burn module.

Link Aggregation

Link aggregation can sustain multiple network connections and provide redundancy in case one of the links fails. Thecus NAS supports 7 modes which provide Load Balance, Failover, 802.3ad, Balance-XOR, Balance-TLB, and Balance-ALB, Broadcast.

Antivirus

Thecus’ innovative hardware helps prevent failures. But sometimes you have to protect the NAS against itself. Adding an antivirus to the already comprehensive software bundle will provide the necessary software protection by scanning the files on your NAS and defending it against possible threats. McAfee is the world’s largest dedicated security technology company and shares Thecus’ spirit of dedication and quality. By establishing a strong partnership with them, Thecus will allow users the benefit of McAfee’s powerful software on their NAS entirely for free.

Cloud Backup

The private and public clouds meet with Thecus’ new DropBox, Amazon S3 and ElephantDrive cloud backup functionality! Guard your data with RAID at home and an additional level of protection in the Cloud. Just drag and drop files into the folder on your NAS and access them on any computer or mobile device with DropBox, Amazon S3 or ElephantDrive.

HDMI Output

Make your NAS into the ultimate multimedia hub! The N5810PRO’s HDMI output allows you to connect your NAS directly to your TV for device management, web browsing with Flash support, and even HD video playback. Don’t force yourself to watch movies on that tiny little computer screen anymore, take it to the living room!

USB 3.0 Connectivity

The next generation of connectivity is here with speeds 10x faster than USB 2.0. Whether connecting digital cameras and smart phones, backing up large external hard drives, or extending the capacity of your NAS, USB 3.0 will make sure it's done in no time at up to 5 Gbit/s. Backwards compatibility adds the connectivity of a world full of USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 devices to get the best combination of speed and universal access.
